U14’s Cup Quarter Final

Wednesday night seen our u14s under the floodlights for the league cup trophy 1/4 final ⚽⚽⚽⚽

Another great occasion for the boys to showcase themselves on the 1st team pitch..

GAME PLAN: retain possession ✅ discipline in positions ✅ work hard for each other ✅ move the ball around with purpose ✅ be patient with attacks ✅ individual decision making ✅ play through the thirds.

The report writes itself really, a maturing performance from all the boys.

Both teams thought hard from the get go looking to gain ground on the big pitch.

With spells of possession falling in our favour & waves of positive football played from the 1st half keeper Wilson to our wing backs Beaumont & Mosey up and through to the midfield.

It took 23mins before the Deadlock was broken with H Fawcett being brought down after some promising link up play with Ross down the left flank.

⚽Mosey stepped up from distance to deliver a dipping ball over the Barlby backline catching the defence and the keeper off guard as the ball bounced into the net.

1:0

Our midfield Hiner, Ross, Nixon and Sellars had a battle on there hands in the 1st half with the Barlby midfield trying to find there strikers, being cut out by our backline of Beaumont, B Wilson, A Fawcett and Mosey reading the passages of play very well. after 28mins we introduced our only substitute for the evening as Shan a little ruffled from being poorly stepped into left mid leaving Ross to take hold of the right hand side.

Our No1 GK ⚽Nixon now made his way from RM into a CF role and quickly with the partnership of our usual CB Waldron beside him impressively took a ball from Ross and with some tekkers slotted the ball home.

2:0

The duo working there magic again up top with Nixon unlucky not to find a hardened Waldron through on goal before the HT whistle took us into the break 2:0.

HT

Game plan in the 2nd much the same as the 1st with a formation change.

R Wilson coming out of goal & with Nixon still smiling from doing his job outfield now had intentions of a clean sheet, in a 3-4-3.

A Fawcett making his way out of his comfort zone at the back now pushed into CM and worked tirelessly to win and retain the ball, holding up play as the wider players gained ground a notable performance from him 👏.

Hiner continued his hard work from the 1st half performance now found himself as CF and worked hard pulling the CB out of position helping ⚽N Shan now in his more progressive role, whom gained ground & managed to wriggle free of the Barlby line to cut inside getting his shot off with the his weaker foot, finding the back of the net from distance on the 57th min.

3:0

The game continued in the same manor with football being played in the correct way, confidence grew as time went on Beaumont winning his battles in midfield against arguably a giant, kept the intensity down the right linking well with Ross & B Wilson at RB, the attacks kept building with Sellars hitting the upright from the edge of the box.

The patience and hard worked paid off again going into the final minutes as an aggressive run up the left flank from Mosey fuelled by being assaulted by the opposition 5 mins prior weaved his way through the back line delivering a ball towards the back post for Wilson to get his shot off, the keeper saved well and parried behind for a corner Ross delivered and Sellars was rewarded with a powerful bullet of a header rounding off a great performance.

4:0

*The game sounds a little one way and could of been a slightly different score line if it wasn't for the resilience of our defensive players in both halves the way they read the opponents attacks was class, our midfield was strict and disciplined and our forwards unselfish.

An all-round great team performance regardless of the score.

🎖️MOM was A Fawcett growing in confidence, showing composure on the ball and willing to give new positions a go.

Well done boys⚽⚽👌💪 TRUST THE PROCESS
