Meet The Champions - Joey McCormick

After struggling with injuries for a long period, how desperate were you to get back and play a big part in the success this season?

I was really happy to get back on the pitch, when you’ve struggled with injuries there’s nothing better than getting back on the grass especially knowing what a great set of lads we have and what we could do.

Where does this achievement rank with your previous achievements?

I enjoyed playing my part in what has been an unbelievable achievement for the club. It’s right up there with my best achievements as I know what this means to the club. People work tirelessly for this club and it’s great to finally get them that title.

Who was your stand out player?

It’s really hard to pick one stand out player when everyone has been top class and given 100%. The regulars, the lads on the bench and out of the squad that have come back in have given their all and that’s what wins leagues in my opinion.

What was your favourite goal?

Fraser vs Scullies- ridiculous. I’d like to say one of my own but that goal really set the tone for the win which made a massive difference in that title race.

What are your plans/targets for next season?

It's honestly an unbelievable squad that can play higher than this level for sure. The right mindset and this group can go very far in any competition
