Meet The Champions - Jack Lockwood

Next Up is another Centre Back who has played a huge part in the title success, Jack Lockwood.

What us the best/ favourite moment of the season?

For me there’s been a few on and off the pitch like the ottley run at the start of the season which probably set the tone for how close we’ve been throughout the season or beating Sculcoates at home and seeing how much it means to the gaffa to be in touching distance of winning the league. But, for me it has to be winning the league at the reigning champions Hedon 4-0, what a feeling! Also, a nice touch from the reigning champions to give us a guard of honour walking off the pitch showing some real class!

What is your most memorable goal?

There’s definitely been a few like Fraser’s absolute rocket of a free kick against Hedon, or Nath Walkers 35 yard chip against Reckits which put us 4-3 up after being 3-1 down with 10 minutes to go. But the most memorable has to be Muzza’s late late winner against Hornsea at home (and yes it kills me to say it because it’s Muzza) it wasn’t the prettiest but just because of the absolute scenes after the goal which showed our never give up attitude all season!!

What are your plans and targets for next season?

The obvious target is to win the league again and with the team and togetherness we have amongst the lads at the minute there’s no reason why we cant but I somewhat feel like we have unfinished business in the East Riding cup! Last season seeing us fall short in the final and having so many players missing including myself I feel like we have a great chance at winning the double and hopefully the lads feel like we can achieve that!!

On a final note I just want to say a massive thank you to Joe and Wokko who have stood by us through thick and thin this season and believed in us every step of the way and seeing how much it meant to them being at the club for so many years just made us want to do it even more!!
