You have played for the club a number of years, how does it feel to finally see the club win the Humber Premier league ?
It’s taken 10 years of Humber football for me to finally see the day that Pock get our hands on that trophy, With a few seasons of finishing 2nd and 3rd. I am so proud of all the lads and over the moon for the club as a whole. Thoroughly deserved.
You stepped in on a number of occasions to play for the 1st team, what felt different about the side that ultimately have won the league in comparison to teams you have previously played in?
The togetherness of this team is second to none. The lads really do work hard for each other and there is a never say die attitude. We have always had great teams in my time at Pock, but there’s just something extra about how this group approaches the matches and execute the game plan set out by Joe and Mark.
Did you feel part of the group when you played and what was the atmosphere like ?
Most definitely, obviously, hitting 40 this year, and being around the club since I was 15, I think most of the lads knew who I was and that my experience could help them when I was required to deputise for Sean. I was always made to feel part of the team and there is a great feeling around the whole first team squad.
What was your favourite game of the season?
It has to be the League Cup win against Scullies! Saving 2 penalties in the shoot out is really up there with my best moments in my career. What a buzz! However, the first match of the season away at Hornsea which we won 4-0, I could see that this team could do something special this year.
What are your plans/targets for next season?
I’m very much undecided at the moment. I had to persuade myself last summer to do another season. Which I have thankfully managed unscathed. It’s difficult to not think about stepping onto the pitch each Saturday when it’s something you have done all your life. I have a tough decision to make over the next few weeks. We shall see…
