Meet The Champions - Alex Nattrass

At what moment did you feel the team could win the league?

I felt we could go on and win the league after our 2-2 draw with table toppers sculcoats in December. We dominated large spells and arguably should have won the game. This made us believe that there were no teams to fear, and we could go on and challenge for the title.

Having suffered an injury towards the back end of the season, how important was it for you to stay involved with the team and how did the lads keep you feeling part of it?

Suffering an injury was incredibly frustrating for myself, however it was good to continue to be part of the group whilst the push for the title continued. All the lads were great at making me feel part of it, in particular Mark & Joe.

What were your emotions like during the Hedon game ?

I was surprisingly calm ahead of and during the Hedon game, knowing the quality and depth we had in the squad I couldn’t see anything other than a win. The lads were class, and the result never really looked in doubt. It was a pleasure to watch.

What are your plans/targets for next season ?

Next season I think the target has to be to try and defend our title and go one further in the cup to put last season’s disappointment to bed. Personally, it’d be great to get back to fitness and be part of the squad again.
